L'essaim naturel arrive et se pose. Je positionne une ruchette sous l'essaim puis à l'aide d'un balayette (spécialement conçue pour les abeilles), je balaye les abeilles dans et devant la ruchette. Après un essai non concluant, je décide de couper une branche pour secouer la majorité des abeilles directement dans la ruchette. Cette fois-ci, la reine étant dans la boite, les abeilles viennent la rejoindre.

Une fois dans la ruchette garnie de cires bio, les abeilles seront élévées conformémént au label agriculture biologique pendant 1 an, après cette période, elles seront considéres comme conforme au label bio. Leur miel pourra alors être vendu comme bio. Bien souvent la première année, un essaim naturel ne produit rien, la plupart du temps il s'agit d'une vielle reine que nous somme amenés à remplacer par une souche issue de notre séléction.

The natural swarm arrives and lands. We position a hive under the swarm and then using a (bees) brush, we sweep the bees in and before the hive. After an inconclusive test, we decided to cut a branch to shake the majority of bees directly into the hive. This time, as the queen is in the box, all the bees come to her.

Once in the hive filled with organic waxes, bees are reared according to the organic farming label for 1 year, after this period of time, they will be considered consistent with the organic label. Honey produced with this colony can then be sold as organic. Often the first year, a natural swarm produces nothing, often it's an old queen that we are called upon to replace with a strain arising from our selection.
